Supporting Worthwhile Causes
Being a community pub is so much more than a certificate and an award – for us here at the Halt it means that our customers are welcomed like guests. With the pub being run by the same families for over 17 years we have built an enviable rapport with our regulars, and will do all that we can to support worthwhile causes.
Last week we had the pleasure of helping one of our lovely locals celebrate ‘ringing the bell’. Michelle Ware has been battling breast cancer this past year and although she still has a way to got on her journey, she reached a milestone when she got to ring the bell to celebrate finishing her chemotherapy.
In honour of Breast Cancer Now’s ‘WEAR IT PINK’ day on Friday 20th October, Michelle baked some truely scrumptious cupcakes to raise money for this amazing charity, which we gladly sold on her behalf. We managed to make over £100, and everybody who bought one commentated on just how tasty they were.
All proceeds from the sales will be going to Breast Cancer Now, so thank you to everybody who donated. If you missed the opportunity to sample one of Michelle’s cakes but would still like to donate, please visit her Just Giving Page – Michelle’s fundraiser for Breast Cancer Now ‘Wear It Pink’ – You can also find out more about Michelle’s other cakes by visiting her website, A Little Bit Naughty.
New Year’s Eve Charity Party 2023
Continuing our charitable theme – as an avid reader of our blog posts you have access to the first announcement of this year’s New Year’s Eve Party.
On New Year’s Eve 2023 we have DJ Gill booked for a fabulously fun party night. Tickets are about to go on sale, they will be available from this Friday, 27th, and are an absolute bargain at £20. Half of the ticket price – £10 – will be donated to Matt (Wiggy) and Dom’s charity fundraising campaign, as they are running the London Marathon in 2024 for Cystic Fibrosis. The ticket price also includes food and a glass of fizz to toast in the New Year. BUT! These tickets are limited so please do get yourself along to the Halt to buy yours and help us celebrate the New Year in style.
We will be keeping a close eye on Matt and Dom’s training and hope to bring you a full report on how they got on once they have run over that finish line.
