Gin and tonic?
It’s September – meteorological autumn has arrived – but we are hanging on to summer here at the Salehurst Halt. We have our beautiful vine covered terrace, so you can still sit outside and join us in ‘imagining’ the long, hot summer (that maybe wasn’t this year) is rumbling along all month.
And what goes well with drinks on the terrace? Gin.
We’re a little partial to the odd Gin and tonic here, which is why, if you ask for a Gin and tonic, you will be met with the question, “any particular type of gin?”.
At the time of writing we have just shy of 20 different Gins on offer. We have recently changed our house Gin to the locally sourced White Cliffs, Kent Dry Gin. The ‘blurb’ on the bottle states, “Maritime Forest, Orange, Light on Spring Flowers, Sea Spray on my lips“. Now doesn’t that sound fancy….
We have three different Hastings Gins at the moment – the standard dry, a raspberry and an orange. Then we have a couple of more widely known Gins, including Bombay Sapphire, Tanqueray, a Sipsmith and an Ophir; and then there is the wonderful Bathtub Gin and the ‘oh-this-tastes-like-I’m-on-holiday-in-the-Med‘ Gin Mare.
We don’t just stop with a range of Gins – we couldn’t offer you such a wonderful choice and then only have one type of tonic now, could we? So we stock Fevertree – and we have ‘full-fat’, light, Elderflower, Mediterranean….. and others to boot.
If you fancy a sun downer G&T on our beautiful terrace there is still time before the full force of winter crashes in on us all. So why not pop into the Salehurst Halt and make-believe we’re still in summer.
