Celebrating 35 years of Robertsbridge Bonfire Society
Plans are well afoot for this year’s Soapbox Derby which is taking place on May 10th and being organised by Robertsbridge Bonfire Society, but, as it takes place literally on our doorstep we are heavily involved.

Church Lane in Salehurst is due to be closed between 12 and 8pm (it may open sooner if all is clear), and the races are scheduled to take place between 1pm and 5pm.
Here at The Salehurst Halt we will be manning not one, not two, but THREE bars on the day, along with another bar being planned by Robertsbridge Bonfire a little further up the road. We’ll have different drink options on the different bars, including beer, cider, wine and soft drinks.
Our kitchen will be serving our wonderful homemade burgers and hot dogs, with fries, and there will be veggie, vegan and gluten free options. We also hope to be serving ice cream.

As if the races weren’t enough entertainment for you, we’ve got live music on the terrace in the evening. Alex Gold will be setting up at some point early evening – as soon as the band are able to get through but hopefully from about 5.30pm. This is going to be one exciting, fabulous, frivolous, fun day…. as long as … it doesn’t rain…..
As usual in England we are beholden to the weather and should it be raining the Soapbox Derby will need to be shelved….
So watch this space, check out our socials, look out for our newsletter and keep an eye out on the weather forecast.
