Exciting News!

The Halt and Off The Line

We are pleased to announce that the Salehurst Halt and Off The Line Vineyard have combined forces under the umbrella name of the Off The Line Ltd.

Those of you who are familiar with the terrace at the Halt know about our fabulous grape vine that has been established for almost 20 years. Back in 2023 we were able to harvest the grapes from this vine, and, in combination with some additional grapes from Carr Taylor, we are making our very own Halt English sparkling wine. It’s not quite ready, but watch this space for a release date….

The English wine business is thriving, with a lot of interest worldwide and an exciting future ahead. You know we love our wines here in Salehurst, we have always strived to bring you the best reds, whites, rosé and sparkling – so it made absolute sense to combine our love of wine with a local vineyard. And where better than Off The Line – both this vineyard, and the Salehurst Halt are situated along old railway lines.

Off The Line Vineyard

Off The Line Vineyard sits on a 33 acre site, between Horam and Hellingly with about 15 acres under vine. The well established vines, dating back to 2015, are predominantly rosé focused, but in 2023 we planted Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and more Pinot Noir in the hope that we can add a beautiful sparkling wine in a few years time. Having our very own state-of-the-art winery at the vineyard ensures that we have a significantly reduced footprint as everything can be done onsite.

What Does These Mean For Our Customers?

Essentially, for you our wonderful customers, nothing changes. You’ll still have the team you know and love behind the bar and backstage creating wonderful, tempting meals – the only thing you may notice is an increase in our own delicious rosé being served, with more additions to our enticing wine menu as our grapes mature.

Rachel, Rohen, Karen, Harvey, Dave, Fran and the team are excited about the new venture and the opportunities that it will open up.
