Halt Garden

The gardener at the Salehurst Halt

Thanks to our wonderful gardener, Alicja, our pub garden is blooming lovely.

If you’ve been to visit us recently you’ll know just how fabulous our garden is looking. And we have Alicja to thank for this.

Having taken over the gardening gloves from Owen in the spring of last year, this summer the fruit of her labour is really blooming.

Alicja has been gardening for around 10 years and is truly passionate about what she does. We asked her to share a few thoughts on working with us here at the Halt:

Being local I have been coming to the Salehurst Halt for many years and have always really liked it. I’ve been working at the pub for just over a year, and I’ve got big plans for the garden. My idea is to improve on what was already here and make it an even more lovely place to come and enjoy the delicious food and atmosphere, surrounded by different shaped, coloured and scented plants.”

The roses this year have been spectacular, and Alicja told us that her favourite flower is the Hydrangea Annabelle – of which there will be a plethora as the years roll by. There are also some fabulous structural grasses appearing, and we hope the sweet peas will be blooming again very soon.

Do please pop by and take a look at all the wonderful plants and flowers that Alicja has tended to so lovingly. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful pub garden, with a terrace from which to admire the plants, the view across the Rother valley and spectacular sunsets (weather permitting…..). The perfect spot to sup a beverage or two ….
