Did we mention that we were quite fond of Gin at the Halt?
We think we may have done, some when quite recently… so we decided to take a staff ‘training’ trip out to Pleasant Land Distillery, where our new super-dooper house Gin hails from; and we learnt a lot.
Calling themselves ‘The Illuminated Distillers’, Pleasant Land are are a family-run distillery who specialise in the distillation of local and international produce using 100% renewable energy.
The kitchen at the Halt has a reputation for producing top-class food using local ingredients; and we’re no different behind the bar. We source from local companies where possible, and especially those that also use local produce, so our new White Cliffs Gin fits in with our ethos and culture.
And what should you do with a really decent Gin? You should serve it as a decent measure.
Our ‘proper’ Gin and Tonic is on offer currently as a 35ml measure with your choice of Fever Tree tonic for only £6.50 (we do have the usual measures available too.).
So why not treat yourself to a really flavoursome Gin, infused with wild foraged juniper, samphire, cherry bark and sea buckthorn that reveals a vapour basket of sweet orange zest, orange blossom and Elderflower?
In addition, we will shortly be introducing you to our new house Vodka – also sourced from Pleasant Land – so keep an eye out on the top shelf behind the bar, or check in with Fran, Dave, Rachel or Claire to see what all the fuss is (rightly) about.
