From Robertsbridge…

Walking to Salehurst

…to Salehurst.

Robertsbridge sits on the main railway line between London and Hastings, which means that it’s quite easy to reach from north or south. And you can walk from Robertsbridge to the Salehurst Halt in roughly half an hour (can be less if you’re in a hurry, more should you wish to take in the sites).

Walk from Robertsbridge Train Station to The Salehurst Halt

As you leave the train, walk down Station road towards the center of the village. Along this road you may spot some of the community planters that are annually sown with edible plants for all to enjoy.

Cross the little bridge and up towards the junction – here on the corner you can stop for a wonderful cup of coffee and a snack from Judges – if the weather is good you can stop for a bit and sit outside watching the world wander by.

Turn left onto the High Street and walk past some of the historic houses still being used as homes and on towards Robertsbridge cricket ground.

Crossing the river Rother, keep following the road around, you may spot the old mill, and head towards the A21. A little way up on your left you will find a crossing to help you navigate the A21 which, being the main road heading to the coast, can be quite busy.

Head on to Church Lane and the countryside starts to open up – you will need to take care here as there is no pavement, but the hedges either side are beautiful, and as you see Salehurst village and its imposing church tower come into view, you’re almost with us.

As soon as you come into Salehurst you will see us, just there on your right, ready and waiting to welcome you in with warm smiles and cold beer.

We look forward to having you visit, whether you’ve come by train, by car, by bike, on foot, or even on horse back.
