Halt Treats

Desserts at the Halt

Can you save room for our sumptuous desserts?

We had another typically busy weekend here at the Salehurst Halt, with hundreds of meals served to happy customers.

If there’s one thing though that some people who visit us find hard, it’s saving enough room for our scrumptious puddings. We even had customers in who asked to look at the pudding board BEFORE the main menu in an attempt to ‘work backwards’.

Almost all of the sweet choices we offer are homemade (the exception being one or two ice cream options – but still, the majority of our ice creams and sorbets are homemade), and they really do go down a treat. We are forever changing all of our menu’s to make use of seasonal, and where possibly local produce, and recent dessert options have included a deconstructed lemon meringue pavlova (this almost sold out on day one!), variations on the traditional Basque cheesecake, different types of chocolate brownies (Mars Brownie was popular, but the Crunchy Brownie was gone almost as soon as it was removed from the oven!) and of course, our ice creams and sorbets. We will always try and cater for dietary restrictions too such as gluten free and vegan.

You can, of course, come in and just have a dessert; there is no obligation to have a starter or main meal as well. The feedback we get from those who do have room for pudding is almost unanimously positive – so why not pop in for a little sugar indulgence and find out for yourself how wonderful our homemade desserts really are.
