On a macro level, you can gauge the weather by the popularity of our wonderful garden terrace. Covered in a mature, fruit bearing vine, surrounded by beautiful flowers and with far reaching views across the Rother valley, the Salehurst Terrace is a wonderful place to sit and relax.
The first brave souls to venture out and eat one of our delicious Sunday roasts after the harshest winter months – usually around March – herald the advent of ‘spring’. The terrace comes into its own upon the arrival of the longer days, the warmer evenings, when booking a spot under the vine is de rigeur. This year’s unprecedented heat resulted an unprecedented quietness on the terrace as, even under the shade, it was just too warm to sit out during the heat of the day, and back inside our diners came until the sun went down and the (relative) coolness of the evening returned. Post prandial drinks on the terrace anyone?
You know it’s summer when we have live music outside – the band set up near the patio doors and the terrace is fully alive with laughter, with singing, with dancing. We’ve even held a salsa night out here and had choirs come for dinner and burst into harmonies….
The Salehurst Halt Terrace is one of the loveliest pub gardens you could spend time in, so why not come along and see for yourself. Booking highly recommended.
