Treat… or… Treat?

The Salehurst Halt at Halloween

This week see’s the arrival of Halloween – also know as All Hallows’ Eve. Believed to have originated from an ancient Celtic festival, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts, the modern incarnation is more synonymous with the carving of pumpkins and the American import of Trick or Treat.

Here at the Halt we celebrate a lot of things – but Halloween is not big on our list. Weddings? Yes. Engagement parties? Yes. Birthdays? Yes! Christmas – New Year? Definitely yes! And of course, we as the community pub very much support those involved with Robertsbridge Bonfire Society.

So what can you expect if you pop into the Salehurst Halt on Halloween. Or on All Saints Day (November 1st)? Or at any other time this coming week?

If the weather continues to be dreary, we’ll get our lovely new wood burner going for you. If we have some unseasonal, warm sunshine, we’ll ensure the terrace is welcoming. There will always be a friendly face behind the bar, and there are always scrumptious starters, mains and puddings on the menu. With a range of local food, local drinks, real ale, beers and lager on tap and in bottles, wines, spirits and a whole array of non-alcoholic drinks to chose from, popping in to see us will always be worth your while.

Last week we were fully booked each and every evening so, if you don’t want to miss a trick, we do recommend you call ahead to book your table and ensure your Halloween is just treat AND treat.
