Come Rain or …..

Salehurst Halt garden

One thing that can be guaranteed in the UK? You can never predict the weather. July 29th marks Rain Day, which originated in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania when, in 1874, a local farmer predicted rain for his town and it miraculously rained every year on this day since.

Quite a few of our regulars are farmers, so perhaps, exactly 150 years on, we should ask them to predict glorious sunshine for Salehurst?

It may not have been one of the best summers so far, but there have been plus-sides to all the rain. As you sit on our terrace you can see across the valley to the wooded hills; you can glimpse into the valley where the river winds; you can look towards the rooftops of Roberstbridge; and if you look up, you will see our splendid grape vine. All of these vistas are particularly beautiful this year because of the rain. We are in the middle of the green, lush, English countryside here at the Halt, and we know how lucky we are.

Come rain or shine, you can enjoy the views from our terrace as we are protected from the English summer; there is a roof above the grapes which will keep you dry, so not letting the weather spoil your time spent in our beautiful pub garden.

Whether you fancy popping in for a quick drink, lunch, dinner, or for our live music and special event evenings, you are sure of a warm welcome from the moment you arrive.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Salehurst Halt soon – just be sure to ring ahead and reserve a terrace table if you want to be guaranteed the best seat in the, er, garden….
